Rules:

This race will be USAT Sanctioned and all USAT rules will be in effect.  Highlights include:

Helmets are mandatory while riding the bike (BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER the race).  Helmet must be buckled or strapped on.  This is a DISQUALIFICATION penalty.

Headphones are not allowed at any time.

No drafting will be allowed while on the bike.   Click here to see the complete document on drafting.

Pass only on the left while on the bike.

No blocking - Stay to the Right side except when passing.

Do no cross the yellow line around corners on the bike.

No outside assistance will be allowed in the transition area.

Handlebar ends must be plugged to lessen the chance of injury.  This is a DISQUALIFICATION penalty.  Please ask for a plug from one of the bike shop vendors at the race or at registration if you need one.

You may not leave anything on the course (i.e. water bottles, gu wrappers, SWIM CAPS).  Everything should return with you to the transition area.

Variable time penalties for the Half Iron Triathlon are 4 minutes for the first offense, 8 minutes (12 total) for the second offense, and disqualification for the third.

Variable time penalties for the International Triathlon are 2 minutes for the first offense, 4 minutes (6 total) for the second offense, and disqualification for the third.

Age groups are determined by the person’s age on race day.

Refund and Transfer Policy:

There are no refunds for any reason. 

There are no person-to-person transfers. 

You can transfer your entry to next year for $25 if the transfer is made before the race sells out.  Once the race has sold out the transfer fee goes up to $50 for the 1/2 Iron and $30 for the International.  From October 1st to October 31st, the transfer fees are $100 for the 1/2 Iron and $50 for the International.  There are no transfers after October 31st for any reason (even with a doctor's note).  There are also no tranfers even during the transfer period if you have already picked up your race packet.  ALL TRANSFERS MUST BE COMPLETED USING THE ONLINE TRANSFER SYSTEM.  Emailing us, even before the deadline, will not transfer you or get the deadlines extended.

1/2 Iron participants may downgrade to the International Distance at no charge, but there is no refund or credit either.  International participants may upgrade to the 1/2 Iron Distance for $100.
